Pink roses have a rich history that comes with being one of the longest existing roses known to us - in fact, pink roses have even been depicted in some of the earliest known pieces of art. When roses first began to be cultivated, the majority of them existed in various shades of pink, from the palest pink to the deepest crimson. Prior to that, pink roses were the dominant species among wild roses, and were likely among the earliest roses to evolve
It  symbolized grace and elegance, the pink rose is often given as an expression of admiration and  can also convey appreciation as well as joyfulness.

The Red Rose not only carries more meaning than many other color roses, it is also one of the most universal of all     symbols. The long, storied history   of the   red  rose has lent it  a  wealth of   significance. Red roses have been represented in countless works of art, from classical paintings  and  poetry to modern day music and  media. They have appeared throughout history and across many cultures as political and religious symbols. The mystique of the red rose has been a source of immeasurable inspiration for many throughout the ages. However, it is as the symbol for love that the red rose is most commonly recognized. 

Red roses are the traditional symbol for love and romance, and a time-honored way to say "I love you." The red rose has long symbolized beauty and perfection. A bouquet of red roses is the perfect way to express your deep feelings for someone special.

The flower symbolism associated with the daisy is purity, innocence, loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity. Daisies are often depicted in meadows in Medieval paintings, also known as a "flowery mead." Daisies are believed to be more than 4,000 years old and hairpins decorated with daisies were found during the excavation of the Minoan Palace on the Island of Crete.

 The family Asteraceae (known as the aster, daisy, or sunflower family) is the largest family of flowering plants. The name 'Asteraceae' is derived from the type genus Aster, meaning star. The family comprises more than 1,600 genera and 23,000 species. Asteraceae are most common in the temperate regions and tropical mountains.



The name daisy come from "day's eye" because the flower is only open during the day and closes up at night. Another name is "thunderflower" since it blooms in the summer when thundershowers are common. In addition, the daisy is believed to keep away lightening. For this reason, it was also kept indoors. A common name in England for the flower is bruisewort since the crushed leaves could be used for soothing bruised or chapped skin.



Commercially important plants in the daisy family include the food crops lettuce, chicory, globe artichoke, sunflower, safflower and Jerusalem artichoke. Other commercially important species include flowers used as herbs and in herbal teas and other beverages. Chamomile and calendula are grown commercially for herbal teas and the potpourri industry. Echinacea is used as a medicinal tea.



Daisies like rich, well drained soil and full sunshine. But, they are a hardy and forgiving plant. They will readily tolerate poorer soils and partial shade. They need little attention during the year. A little general purpose fertilizer in the early growth stage will help the plants to develop big and strong stalks and leaves. Just before blooming, provide a fertilizer high in Phosphorous to help promote big, bright blooms.



The origin of the word Daisy is the Anglo Saxon “daes eage” which literally mean “day’s eye”. It was called this because daisies open at dawn as the day just starts to begin.

( gardenia, Gardenia jasminoides: Philippine Herbal Medicines )Uses· Decoction of leaves and flowers used for dyspepsia, flatulences, nervous disorders and abdominal pains.· Decoction of bark (50-55 g) used for fevers. dysentery and abdominal pains.· Decoction of flowers used as wash for inflammed eyes.· Poultice of leaves for swollen breasts; may be mixed with violeta and other herbs.· Jaundice, hepatitis· Fruit is antiseptic; used for tootaches, foul sores.· Cough, fever.· Bacillary dysentery.· Nephritic edema· Epistaxis, painful outgrowth at the tongue· Mastitis, furuncle· Lymph node tuberculosis· Dosage: use 30 to 60 gms dried roots, 60 to 120 gms dried fruits in decoction. Fruits may be pulverized and applied to regions with furuncle, sprains, lymph node tuberculosis with water or alcohol.• In China, extract used traditionally to treat diabetes. Also used for inflammed eyes, tumors, painful urination and hematuria.• In Oriental medicine, fruit has been used for inflammation, jaundice, headache, fever, liver disorders and hypertension.(now... this IS wow!)

Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family,Malvaceae. It is quite large, containing several hundred species that are native to warm-temperate,subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. Member species are often noted for their showy flowers and are commonly known as hibiscus, sorrel, and flor de Jamaica, or less widely known as rosemallow. The genus includes both annual and perennial herbaceous plants, as well as woody shrubs and small trees. The generic name is derived from the Greek word ἱβίσκος (hibískos), which was the name Pedanius Dioscorides (ca. 40-90) gave to Althaea officinalis

used  gumamela   as part of a bubble-making pastime.

 Gumamela  composition is a lot like every other flower whose sole purpose is to help a plant reproduce.
